460 Engine

I'm new at this. I'm trying to build a 460 and I need lots of help. I need to know what the heads and rod bearings torque at, and what is the sequence on the heads. It's a 1971.

I could get this to you but I would/will have to scan some pages to send. I have an old Chilton that covers 65-86 and the info is there however, if you plan on doing much of this sort of stuff, you might want to consider getting one for yourself. Invaluable when you really need them, the books that is. I can and will help though, just let me know.

If you could send just the tightening sequence on the heads, that is all I need. All help appreciated.

Longer bolts in lower holes. Tighten in three stages, first 75 ft. lbs., 105 ft. lbs., and finally , to 135 ft. lbs. If this procedure is used it is not necessary to retorque.
Intake side bolts are numbered 9, 5, 1, 3, and 7. Exhaust side are 10, 6, 2, 4, and 8.
They go from the middle out, two at a time, alternateing sides. Hope this helps and sorry it took me so long to answer.

Forgot the rods. Rod bearings 40 - 45 lbs. Mains 95 - 105, crankshaft pulley bolt 70 - 90, flywheel 75 - 85, Manifolds, intake 25 - 30, exhaust 28 - 33. Hope this helps you out Waltman.
