gets hot when i drive

I have a 1994 E250 econoline van. It can run at a stand still and never over heat. When I drive it overheats. Any help would be appriciated.

Start by servicing the cooling system. Have it flushed & put a new thermostat in.

You may also want to make sure the transmission has the proper amount of fluid. A hot running transmission will make you overheat also. Think about adding a transmission cooler. That will lower the transmission temperature considerably thus making the engine cooler in the process. This may not be your problem, but it will help.

Are you running the stock fan ie clutch fan? Sometimes the fan clutches go bad and need to be replaced. Check the fins in the radiator and make sure that they are free from obstructions ie lots of insects, paper etc.
