Core support in my gallery

I have a picture of a radiator core support in my gallery that I bought from California for a very reasonable price.

Those cores are out there! I found one in Colorado for 60 bucks and a hundred to ship! I hang out at pull a part myself! White 66, SWB. I am amazed at some of the cherry old Fords that go through that place.

Since when did the 65-66 supports do away with the headlight bucket socket?
I haven't seen any with the holes cut out as this would allow mud and water to slam against the back of the bulbs. Is this normal on the 65-66?
If so, identification in the yards would be a breeze since 61-64 have solid headlight buckets. (unless they are rusted out)

The easist way to ID them is to look at the inner fender mounts on the backside of the core support. If rounded, they are '61 - 64 (or '61 - 66 4x4). All these will interchange.

They will NOT interchange with the '65 and '66 4x2, which used angular inner fenders.

But what about the headlight buckets? Is his core right? Like I said, I've never noticed one with the bubbles missing like his is in his gallery.

One side seems half cut out, the other completely gone. I wonder if someone did a light system retrofit and somehow shoehorned different lights in. Maybe HID lights? I don't know, but I pay attention to core supports (after paying over $300 for mine). Mine was mint though. That core is partially butchered, and I wonder what else will surface after its blasted to be repainted.

Come on guys can I really get $300 for clean rust free core support. Every time I see a 61-64 at ecology its got a good core support in it. I think they sell them for $50 or less. Maybe I can pull a couple and trade them for a unibody tailgate. Any takers, Rich.

Ya it's a big chain of you pull yards here in So Cal. They charge a buck to get in and the rest is up to you. Prices are reasonable but you have to pay that buck to see what they have. Once you pay they'll access their database if your searching for specific vehicles and tell you wich yard has one in it.
