Clutch Helper Spring Help
I have a 96 250 153K with a 5 spd manual. My mechanic told me that my clutch helper spring was broken and that that is why it takes so much force to start the truck and shift. I have not found anything in my Chilton's manual about a "helper Spring" and need to know if that is what it is called and if it has any stock number.

Look at the very top of the pedal assembly, there is a black sping that hooks on the pedal on one end and bolts to a bracket on the other using two torx screws (T-25 I think). If that is the problem then just remove it, don't bother replacing it. I think the clutch feels much better without it.
