e40d shifting and speedometer problem

Kudos to FarmApe. The problem was traced to a broken internal connection at the ABS terminal: This connection being made at the master-cylinder (the wiring that comes into it). Incidentally, (and symtomatically less importantly) the internal transfer case gear is bad (the transfer case gear mates with the speed sensor gear) causing a bit of wooble, and a now minor false low reading in the speedometer. The diagnosis was made at the dealership and cost me $350 in shop time - OUCHIEEE! Not for the first time, the mechanic told me about poor slobs, who fix things that ain't broken, and then bring the truck into the shop. I suggested it's a "guy thing" and we poor slobs have to try fixing our own damn trucks. Good luck!
