'99 V10 missing, 1409 code set, EGR?
Could the EGR Vacuum Regulator Solenoid be causing this misfire? Or is this more likely a coil gone bad as I've seen is so many other posts? If it might be the solenoid, can anyone describe what it looks like, and where it's located on the engine?
Thanks iin advance,
Keen

It could have let alot of rainwater into those coils (or COPs - Coil Over Plugs). They are located under the fuel rail, beside the injectors. About 1 1/4" diameter. If water sits too long on top of the head it can migrate into the plug cavity. That could cause major misfire.
But, if the EGR was bad it could make it run rough also.
I would bet the coils are either corroded allowing the engine to misfire or they are toast.
Also the MAF sensor could be damaged. Have you replaced it? It looks like you had to replace many, many things in order to get that wreck going...

BTW - What exactly is the "real steal" bargain, if you don't mind me asking?
As for the EGR regulator solenoid, I replaced that today. It was not the problem. I still get rough running at low RPMs. The 1409 code is gone, however.
I think the MAF sensor is OK. It didn't look damaged, and I'm not getting a code.
A steal was $3700. I put about $900 into parts and paint. So I got an OK '99 F350 for about $4600 plus about 30 hours labor. May not be a steal for everybody, but I feel like I did pretty well on it.
Of course, I still need to find out why it's running rough, plus I now see that 3 out of the 4 ball joints are shot. I hear that is a really fun job!
Thanks for the response,
Keen
