Well everyone, I asked a million ?s on this and got a millions different answers.......Seems the only one concensus was to go with the EDGE lift kit....Tried that, no one locally sells them, and no one locally would install one I ordered online............So here is what I came up with... Thoughts/Suggestions/Opinions.. am I missing anything..........
Looking at:
ProComp 4" lift
ES9000 Shocks/ Dual Front
Steering Stab/shock kit
Truspeed
Billet Grill, not bolt on, but the cut out of old one type
4 35" procomp AT tires
Trac Bars
INSTALLED
I'll be honest with you. Stay away from PRO COMP kits. I was smart enough to recognize the shoddy craftsmanship (springs), their shocks are TRASH, bracketry is WEAK. If you think about it, why are the spring packs $175.00 and why is a 6.5" all spring kit $850.00???????? That is a great deal if you are planning to change the springs in 2 years because they sag UNEVENLY!!! The only other kit I would have purchased is the SUPERLIFT(all spring). I installed my 6" egde kit this weekend....man that was a chore and I had a hoist, helper and every air tool/specialty tool imagineable! Anyway, Fabtech is another option. I have heard of those kits offering a really, really, really rough ride. Another note on springs, the PRO COMP tech. I talked to "suggested" I would need trac-bars because 50% of the PRO COMP kits that are installed develop axle wrap. Translation......SHI*TY SPRINGS. I don't understand why you cannot get the EDGE kit where you live. Any competent/reputable shop can install one. I'll talk when I get back.
Originally wanted the EDGE 4.5 with Bilstein 5100.... could not find a local shop to buy from or install.... could buy online easily, but no one to install it for me....... I am looking at $3100.00 for all that I mentioned in my post, is that not good?
I currently have the 4" PC lift and although it is a rough ride I have no sag or axel wrap problems. I do think dual shocks up front might be a little much as it would make the ride a little more harsh. I had the same plans until after I got it installed and went with the single. The price is a big selling point for the lift but there are better lifts out there. I'm not Ivan Stewart with my truck but the componets that came with the lift have held up just fine under moderate driving cond. If your on a budget this lift will work. Me personally will save a few pennies in the future and go with the edge 6". I may be just getting use to the lift but it seems after a few months it's started to ride better.. I hear even upgrading to the bilstiens will make a huge difference in ride quality as well. Good luck with your decisions..
$$$$$ is not a big issue.. Already paid a ton for the truck, whats more ..... I want the best, and hear EDGE is the best. cant get it locally installed.....
Test drove a truck like mine, but SB not LB....Seemed to ride just like my stock truck does with this lift and set up. Hoping that holds true for mine when its installed.
I agree. I have never compared the two (edge/superlift) kits. I do know one thing.......my truck rides BETTER than stock. The ride is more solid andcontrolled. I went with the mild valved edelbrock reservoirs in the front and single edelbrock reservoir in the rear. The shocks are nitrogen charged which I think is the ticket with ANY lift. I could have gone with the FOX all the way around, but I opted to chance the Edelbrocks. I LIKE THEM. Add a few billet clamps to these& you got a BITCH*N setup. I am curious to ride in a Superlift truck. For now I am completely ecstatic about how my truck looks, rides and feels when I drive it after installing the 6" EDGE kit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know the edge costs more. Although it is not always true ( 90% of the time it is) you get what you pay for. Good Luck to everyone installing a kit alone. It is alot of work. Buy some beer and invite a mechanic buddy over.
well, it is also a fact that many people equate quality to price.... if it costs double, it must be twice as good!
i for one cannot fathom why this company is still in biz, since they charge so much for similar quality products others sell. the idea their products are superior, i feel is a misnomer....but then again, i have never owned a edge lift....but i would say there are many options, and imho, pro comp is not one of them
I dont know if this helps or not. I put a 4" Superlift on my 2003 F250 crewcab just a couple of weeks ago. I looked and looked at all the other kits and everyone I talked to said superlift, superlifts are the ideal lift for the superduties. Thats all I heard. So I took peoples advice and I have not been disapointed so far. The ride is totally different. When you combine the new springs along with the wider wheel and larger tire (35's) it makes for a totally different ride. I would say that maybe 1/3 of the improved ride comes from the fact that the tire being so much wider absorbes more of the bounces in the road. I also installed the Bilstein 5100. Anyone that says the more you spend the better the ride, well that may be true in some cases with other items. Dont forget about the other changes you are making to you vehicle to. Just my 2 cents. Oh and by the way I love the way my truck rides and looks.
I see no reason to spend almost $1,000 ducks more for something that is almost identical.
I have ran SL's on 5 or 6 trucks now with no problems.
There is no better summary. Superlift is one of the best with an excellent reputation. Edge - you are paying for their advertising...
Regardless of how much one pays for a truck there is NO need to throw away money needlessly. Besides - you may want to get a Super Chip for that beast...
My local Edge guy wants $1400 for the 3" kit with install, alignment, Bilsteins, and adjustable trac bar. Too rich for my blood, I'm curently looking at the Revtek 2.5" kit. Anyone running the Revtek 2.5"?

If Edge is what you want, then the Edge you should purchase. I too was in your situation....buy the Edge 8"....or purchase the Superlift 8" lift.....I decided on the Superlift. I figured my money would stretch more with Superlift. I wanted a dual shock set up...but all that have the dual shock set up, say it is too stiff of a ride. I prefer to spend a bit more on the shocks to get a better ride. I have no complaints with the Superlift you can't go wrong with any of these lifts if properly installed. I had my lift installed at 4 Wheel Parts, installation was a breeze for them. No driveline vibration.
Check out my truck in my gallery.
