np203 question

Hello every1. I recently got a 77 f250 highboy with a 400m, c6 and np203. this is my first truck and really dont know much about transfer cases. The problem im having is a clanking sound when i take off. I got underneath the truck and was able to wiggle the front drive shaft where it goes into(or out of) the transfer case. Is there a bearing or something inside there that might need replaced and whats it called. Any help would be appreciated

Probably the yoke needs tightened up, if its got lockins & it isn't locked in that isn't your problem. Maby the rear shaft or the intermediate shaft has a bad U joint.

The 203 is a chain drive for the front drive shaft, you may have a little play, and this is normal. This is one of the reasons alot of people don't like the 203, but it really is not a big deal.
