Question Ford's forgotten truck

Who on this board knows what an N series Ford looks like? Or what it is for that matter? The N series or N cab Fords are Ford's forgotten truck. They were produced from 1962 through 1969. They were medium and heavy duty trucks. They started at N 500 and went up to the N 1000, they came in both gas and diesel. Many were equipped with the famed 401, 477, 534 Super Duty gas engines and were dubbed Super Duty's by the Super Duty name tags attached to the hood of the truck. The N series trucks marked Fords entry into the short conventional market or cab forward as they were commonly called. They were replaced in 1969 by the now famous L series trucks. My next project is to build a N cab Ford into a street rod hauler. I have a page dedicated to these forgotten trucks on my web page. Click on N series truck at the bottom of the opening page. www.michellesfords.com

I've heard that model described as a snub-nose. I drove a 5T moving van version when I was a little younger. It had an FT and 5&2. A guy near here has Shelby's old car-hauler, N500 I think.

around here pepsi used them for delivery trucks for a lot of years. i bought 3-4 and built wreckers out of them. only problem was 50 m p h, uphill, downhill, sideways, didnt matter. loaded or empty was all the same to them.

Michelle, what a coincidence. I just saw your webpage this morning and sent you an email. What a great page!
Local junkyard just got one of those. I parted everything that would fit a F100/F250. The N series had padded sunvisors that look so much better than the cardboard visors found in the smaller trucks. None in this one, darn it. Also look for the hoodscoops. Not many out there.

There is an old N series box truck sitting in a yard near me. The tall cab is pretty interesting! That old commercial stuff is cool, to bad its kinda impractical since its so large and heavy and expensive to maintain/drive. There is a 56 rollback car hauler in a tow yard as well, these are really cool, plenty of storage under the car deck, and a neat old truck!

The N series truck would be really cool sitting on an N 500 or 600 chassie, lowered with smaller wheels and a dove tail bed on it for hauling street rods, or for that matter, you could sit the cab on an old motor home chassie, that would probably lower it some. The lower to cab and frame the cooler.

Hi, I have a freind who has 2 of these that they still use in a feedlot and to seed wheat. I helped my dad rebuild the 352 in one. I never looked at the nomiclature but I always like how they were different.
