Strange things dogs eat

I was makin' a batch of chili the other day, cuttin' up some veggies and the dog wouldn't leave me alone, so I gave her a piece of onion. She ate it! I gave her 1/4 of an onion, and she ate that, too! Not just swallowed it; chewed it up and ate it! Actually, she ate everything I gave her, including jalapeno, but I didn't give her much of that- I'm not that cruel. What has your dog eaten?

Smile What doesn't he eat!

My dog eats about everything. pistachio nuts, (I shell them before he eats them), broccilli, cauliflower, bananas, and some non tasty items: 2 TV remotes, a latch and hook rug. Now when I need to change channels on the TV I just rub his belly.

i have heard that onions and/or garlic can kill a dog. something about their livers not being able to handle it. i can't remember which it was (onions or garlic) but i don't give 'em either. you might want to give your VET a call to be sure. i know i'd never forgive myself if i carelessly caused the death of my own dog.
Since you asked, my daschund will gobble up anything that falls to the ground if she thinks it's food. one time she was hanging out by the changing table...well, you get the picture. i didn't let her near me for 2 days.

I had a dog that would eat whatever fell on the floor. I don't think he was particularly interested in eating some of the items. I think he felt obligated to clean up any food items that hit the floor - that was the job of the family dog.

He ate: strawberries, grapes, raisins, olives, pickles, ju-jubes, carrots, sweet potatoes, blueberries, broccoli, etc., etc. Sometimes he looked at us balefully when it was a less-than tasty morsel, but he would give it a sniff, give it lick, check to see if we were still watching, then eat it anyway. But he absolutely would not ever eat peas. If he was given a treat of table scraps, he would lick any gravy or other tasty juices off the peas, then put the peas on the floor beside his dish, lest they get in the way of the good stuff.

Of course, Rufous was also fond of stuffed animals, those rubbery-plastic action figures, and his own hair - he was slightly neurotic and gnawed a bald patch every so often. It was always interesting to see what residual foreign bits were mixed in with the wool in the yard when the snow melted.

I had another dog (briefly) that ate everything in sight: tablecloth off the picnic table, Lego, area rug from the baby's room, electrical wiring, the cat (well, I'm sure he would have, if he had the chance). The last straw came the day he gnawed one of the corners of the aluminum siding off the house. And this dog had an irritable digestive system - ANYTHING other than dry kibble gave him the "howlin' skitters" for three days. He was more trouble than he was worth, so we took him to the local animal shelter.

Yet, strangely, I want to get another dog... (currently dogless).

Cheers,
Eric

My dog eats pretty much anything, but hasn't had much of an appetite lately. I suspect she's eating eggs that my neighbor's chickens are laying in my backyard. She certianly isn't getting skinny, so she's eating something.....
She also likes carrots, grapes, anykind of of chips, and the occasional sip of beer. If you want to keep your dog busy and out of your hair for a while, just stuff some peanut butter into a piece of bone or chew toy and that will keep them busy for a while.

I had a dog growing up, half basset-half golden retreiver, that ate flowers with bees in them. Honestly, she waited until a bumble bee flew into the flower and then ate it. If she couldn't reach the flower she'd bark at it until the bee left. She also had the bad habit of escaping the yard, heading to the local pond and returning with a snake in her mouth.
Dogs I've had since and currently have eaten unusual things but nothing as memorable as "Moose".

Watch out for those dogs that eat everything! We had a cocker spaniel that ate part of a towel, and it plugged her intestines. The surgery was gunna cost like $1500, and she was old so we put her to sleep . We got a Rottwieler to replace her though. . I also had a cat the LOVED cantelope. Cats don't usually eat wierd stuff like dogs do. crazy stuff.

We picked up a kitten when we had Rufous. Dave learned from the dog. He is pickier than Roo was, but I can honestly say I have seen a cat eat raisins. He also loves potato chips.

Cheers,
Eric

We have an apple tree in our back yard. Our Airedale loves to eat the apples. If there aren't any on the ground, he'll jump into the tree and get them. Once he swallowed a smaller apple whole. It plugged his intestines and it cost $1200 to fix him. Dumb *** dog...

Two country boys were sitting out front of the General store.

One looked over at the other and said What do you feed your dog Bill

Bill looked at him and said I feed my dog dog food what do you feed yours Bob?

Bob replied I feed my dog turnip greens.

Bill said My dog wouldn't eat turnip greens

Bob said Mine wouldn't either for a month.

my dachsund would eat absolutely anything, he could also open his own can of beer, ever seen turner and hootch, imagine that, just smaller. my dads old dachsund ate an advil that got dropped on the floor one time, she beat my mom to it, and the dog was wired for 2 days, dont think it ever slept!

then there is the mutt in the back yard, we had a lincoln in the by to take the motor out of it, and when we got the car, it had 4 good tires, even thought of takin em off of the car and puttin em on a trailer, but after about 2 days of havin the dog, he started walkin around, and bustin the tires, would bite em, they would pop, and it would scare him, then he would move on to the next one, now he chews on old tires in the by, i just save him one when i get new ones on the truck.

and my cat will eat absolutely anything, begining to think he is worse than the dogs!!
