I have a e-350 tritan v8. When it is humid or raining it will idle low and stall when making low speed turns and parking manuvers. When the humidity drops it will idle and stall for about a day, then work fine until the humidity is up. It will idle fine for a day, then back to ideling and stalling. Check engine light is on when bad; it will eventually go off when it clears up. Any thoughts? O2 sensor? Idel speed sensor? I replaced the plug boots to no avail. All input welcome to a newjack in distress. Thanks Matt
You should have those codes read. Try Autozone they will scan them for free. Ask them to tell you the actual code #s then post them here.
From your symptoms I'd guess a sticky IAC (idle air control) motor. The next time you have the idle/stall problem try tapping the IAC with a screwdriver handle. If the problem improves you'll know the IAC is "hanging up".
WMcNally, Thanks for your input. Each time the computer codes are read they come back incunclusive. I'll be under the hood later this week. Were is a good place to get a repair manuel? Thanks, Matt
Hi, I have a 2000 Ford Excursion with the same issue. It's been going on for a year now and driving me nuts. The dealer has been no help. I've had the fule system service that Midas provides performed in an attempt to fix this and that didn't help. When/if you get to the bottom of this, I'd really like to know what you did so I can have it done.
Tonia W, last December we had some inordinately muggy weather; the same problem reared its ugly head. I tried a new mechanic who cleaned out the throttle body. He said the gunt deposits were the problem. Its been running great ever since. Good luck, Matt
