OK-so I started this. I don't have a fav bbq joint right now, but would love to do a ride-n-eat of Georgia..
I had always been raised that sauce was an option on bbq, not required.
But sop (sauced many times) ribs are required now and then.
Whatchu think??

The best Bar-B-Q I've ever ate was at a Ga. state park, no joke. I told matt he should open a restaurant.....

Worth mentioning:
"Mike & Ed's Bar-B-Q" Columbus, Ga.
"L&L bbq" Tifton, Ga. (only a take out shac)
"The Pig" Jacksonville, Fla (Lem Turner Rd - they have another location, never tried it) I have someof their sauce in the refrig now) My take on the sauce is it is for the bread or fries

Now i have ate at a many, these are the ones that i return when i can, and sometimes make an excuse just to go.....if you know what ima talkin 'bout.

I like both wet or dry ribs, just depends on the cook. Now the very best is a whole hog - pig pickin time - oh yeah! ROAD TRIP I wanta go

DreamLand BBQ in Conyers...LOVE their original sauce and it's the only place that I really like the ribs. I'm a sucker for good Memphis style BBQ.

For times when I can't get DreamLand's sauce, I use Stubb's Original or Spicy from the grocery store.....Bi-Lo carries it here.

Hey Jeff, I think I had heard of Stinson's. Must be good.
If a catfish reccomends a joint, I gotta try it!!
Thanks catfish 369.
Michelle- I know Zeb's . It ain't been the same since he died but I like stopping by anyhow.
Anybody near Heavy D's in Swainsboro? I need some of that!!
Last meeting at Sandersville, I actually thought of treating all to Holcombs BBQ at White Plains but forgot to rob a joint to pay for it.
For the food junkies like me- Holcomb's is the original sawdust floor place.
The thinking was that to avoid restuarant status and health department needs, open benches were offered with sawdust floors to avoid the mud and 'voila - redneck history is born. Yes I can say 'voila!!

Fat Matt's is too vinegary for me.

I grew up on Lexington (NC)-style BBQ. Did the "BBQ Odyssey" with friends: the goal was to eat at every BBQ joint in Lexington, a town of 16,000 - there were 15-18 of them. Unfortunately (or fortunately), the Odyssey ended on the 6th visit because we found one we all really liked.

Maynor's recently opened in downtown Buford. It's Texas-style BBQ, but the pulled pork made me forget I was a Carolina gal. They have live blues on Fridays and Saturdays.

Hell John, it took me five minutes to look it up..
Hey Ladyfire- welcome to the friendliest place on the www.
If they play the Blues they have a fan already!!
Carolina pig is ok, but one will risk serious injury or death if they try to put slaw on my pig...
Slaw is fine as a side though.

Speaking of Piedmont in Atl, a place called FOGO DE CHAO - Southern Brazil joint - Not traditional BBQ, But about 15 different meats (beef, lamb, pork, chicken) prepared over open flame and served on skewers............with green/red circular chip on table to signal "keep meat coming" or not. Man a fat mans heaven

Never tried the "fat matts" on piedmont, but the "fat matts" at hard labor creek s/p was awesome.......

Welcome Ladyfire, have fun
