help needed 00 ranger

hi i have a 2000 ranger supercab 4x4 xlt with the 3.0l v6 flex fuel engine. it has 131k miles on it and just started in having the volt meter showing it is discharging when under load also the battery light comes on what is causing this alternator or belt slipage or is it something to do with the transmision? or the electronic brain? any help would be awesum thanks!

Hey mohoc,

Take your truck to autozone or pepboys and ask them to check out your battery and alternator. That would be a good place to start.

It does sound like a charging system issue so battery and alternator should be checked.

thanks too all who replied i did end up going to auto zone twice and it was the alternator i also replaced the belt as it was only 23.00 more
