I have some clunks from front suspension on my 2003 Expedition.
I bought and replaced stabilizer bar bushings and end links. After installing and tightening everything down, I see that the stabilizer bar is quite near torque converter housing. Actually I can make it bang against the housing. Surely its not supposed to be like this?
I cant see that anything can be installed wrong, and I mounted the new parts just as it were.
Could someone take a look at their Expedition, and see how close stabilizer bar is to the converter housing? Pics would be great if possible.
Are you the original owner ? How many miles on the Expy ? Over 100k miles I'd look at the front lower ball joints if they've never been replaced. There should be a good 3-4" of clearance between the bell housing and the sway-bar. Something would have to be seriously messed up for them to ever touch. I took some pics of mine and I'll post them.
Im not the original owner. Both upper and lower control arms replaced last six months.
Thank you so much for pics. Its a great help. Will put the truck on stands tomorrow, loosen all bolts at stabilizer bar and links, and see what can be done.
So, went out this morning to take another look in daylight.
You may not believe it, but it is actually possible to mount the stabilizer bar wrong. I had turned it upside down. Hopefully it didnt do any harm to the bellhousing.

I am ashamed of myself now:-)
It happens .... I was looking at the pics and thought that would have to be the case to get it so close to the bell housing. Probably no harm done.
