LAST EDITED ON 03-Nov-01 AT 05:45 PM (EST)[p]I was wondering if anyone can give me advice on where i can find a hookup or accessory power slot to get power from the ignition on a 1998 explorer. I pulled the fuse block out with no luck and pulled down the underside of the dash but didnt see anything. I want to hookup up a handsfree cell phone kit that needs a constant power lead from the batt., switched ignition power and ground. Thanks..jon
LittelFuse makes a part called Ad A Fuse , its rated to 10 Amps . What you do is remove a switched fuse & install the Add A Fuse , The Add A Fuse has a hot lead that you can connect another electrical device to like the phone , It has a butt connecter that you crimp to secure the connection . Next you plug in the fuse you removed & a fuse for the phone , Run the ground wire to a solid ground & your done . Just check the amp ratings of the phone and dont place a higher amp fuse in the Add A Fuse than the circuit originally had . Make sure you get the proper Add A Fuse Amp rating . If the phone is 10amps , place the Add A Fuse in 10 amp fuse location .
