Dammit...code 0401

All,
I apologize if I offend but I am extremely frustrated with code 0401. I have a 97 with a 4.6. I have researched all the links on this site and tried everything recommended but I still get the code. I'm on the verge of going to the dealer (I called to inquire about the code and of course I was told it is common and that it costs $100-$400 to fix)! Can someone help me...please!?
Here's what I've done so far...I had the code read at Autozone, 0401, EGR flow insufficient comes up. I replaced the EGR valve, the DPFE sensor, cleaned the intake plenum (although I didn't disassemble it, I just cleaned it from the EGR port) and replaced the PCV valve. My next step is to replace the EVR, can that help? What about O2 sensors? Is there anything I'm missing?
Like I said, I hate to dump $70 at the dealer to have it diagnosed and then pay the repair when it seems easy to fix and so many others on the board have been successful. Thanks for letting me rant and for any suggestions.

Cool That Darn "Code 0401" on the 4.6 L Engine!

I have exactly the same problem as you with code 0401 on my 98 Expedition 4.6L. How well are you doing to finding the remedy? Please advise.

You might search the site because I know this subject has been discussed several times. There is a fairly new one here https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...d.php?t=399127
