AC sytem replacement question?

Here's the scoop, I have a 1990 F-150 that my dad bought new and had the original AC in it until 4-5 years ago. My dad then replaced the comp. (rebuilt), accumulator, orifice, and the rubber lines. It was flushed and recharged with R-12 and worked fine until last year when it leaked out the freon on a bad o-ring. I replaced the o-ring and did a vacum, after which I bought and installed a 134a retrofit kit. The AC worked fine but was never as cold. About two months ago the comp. started ticking and then last week the AC stopped blowing cold air twice while on my way home from work. Now it dosen't blow and cold air and the comp. dosen't engage the clutch. I jumed it and put the gauges on and it had higher psi's on the low side than the high side, while the comp. continued to tick loudly.
Today I went to Autozone and bought a rebuilt comp, with clutch, accumulator and red orifice. I did not buy the oil cause they only had some no name brand oil. I wiil be using 134a and the comp. instructions say that I need to use PAG lubricant with the 134a.

My questions are: What is the best oil to use?
Will a gallon of mineral spirits be enough to flush out the system?
Which brand of 134a should I use?
Any other tips or sugestions will be greatly appreciated.

Capella, by Texaco is a good oil.
No idea if a gallon is enough. It will depend on how much goop is in there.
Any name-brand R134a should be as good as the other.

One gallon should be enough, don't flush the suction/discharge hosees because they have mufflers on them. Remove the hose assembly and hang it so that all the old oil will drain out.

Picachu, were could I buy capella and how many oz. do I need? I remember seeing Castrol somewhere but can't remember were now. Also is capella considered PAG? Cause that is what my new comp. calls for.

F150"89, How long should I leave it hanging for? What does the muffler consist off?
Thanks
