Ah fellow fordians...

Ford continues to be the top selling truck in the US... in fact, Ford has three spots on the list...

That's great news for the F-Series, but isn't it sad that the 3 top-selling CARS are imports? Let's hope the upcoming Five-Hundred changes that around....

The Big three better not get lazy, the way the import trucks are getting, I can imagine them overcoming domestics eventually. People are gonna start to realize the Japanese are makin a pretty decent full-size.

Ok, the Nissan Titan MAY be (I use the term VERY "loosly") pretty good but NO ONE is buying them! In the last year I have seen TWO Nissan Titans! And I try to look for them! I have seen probably 20 Canyons/Colorados! The Titan MAY be good but no one is buying them (at least here in Canada!)

-Matt

P.S. Hmm, Should this be a Ford vs the Comptetition thread? Maybe Mattsbox99 will be around soon!

I think if Ford wants to sell cars in big numbers again, they better produce something that appeals to the youth market. If not, those people are going to continue to buy imports as they get older. I don't think the 500 is going to do that. As well as a Taurus replacement, they need a Honda killer.

Ford has a lot of work to do with some of their models, but a lot of the other american manufactures do too. They need to step it up before the reputations of others make it more difficult to overcome.

The Ford Fusion is supposed to be the "Honda Killer". Comes out late next year - a little smaller then the current Taurus and the 500 is supposed to be a little bigger then the current Taurus. Hope they market it better then they did the Tempo or the Contour. Take half the advertising budget they wasted on the Thunderbird and used it one lines that sell they might have had something.

Personally, I think if the big 3 dropped their production costs, they'd make a killing & better vehicles. Considering all the funding they spend on concept vehicles (as nice as they sometimes are), these have to be paid for as well, so guess who's paying. If they were to create vehicles specific for geographical regions, things could change a lot. ie. smaller efficient vehicles for the bigger cities. Yes it's nice to have a BIG car or Truck (I do), but consider it's actual application. Why buy a truck if all you need is a car? Why buy a big truck or car, if you're only travellin around town? If the automotive companies invested a little more time researching WHO uses the vehicles vs What they're used for, they might just surprise us all. IMHO

The reason that out american cars cost so much is that the union controls what they call "acceptable pay rates". I'm sorry it's not fair to me to have some guy that barely graduated high school sitting on his rear pushin buttons makin $20+ an hour when I do actual work and make beans.

Matt, hondas are made here in ohio, not too far from where I live... They are also controlled by GM.

honda motor company is all its own....I'm about 100% sure of that...

yes some hondas are made in ohio, but the ones in the repair stage were still imported...in any case, the new ones are probably very similarly priced or slightly higher $ to repair. The older ones, are friggin outrageous to repair....
