Does anyone know what tool is needed to remove the factory (?) hex screws used to hold the speakers in place?
They appear to measure 3/16" by my ruler, but a 3/16" socket won't fit. And 1/4" is waaay too big. 5, 6, and 7mm sockets don't come anywhere close to fitting either.
Is there some special tool needed for removing these screws?
I would be *most appreciative* of any recommendations...
I just replaced all of my speakers in my 94 Explorer. I did not purchase a special tool. I used the hex 'screwdriver' not a socket to undo the hex screws. Can't remember if I used the 5mm size or not--that is the recommended size though. I do know that it was a standard inch or mm size hex 'screwdriver'--nothing special and it did the job. Keep those hex screws, the ones that come with replacement speakers did not work, I had to use the original.

Thank you so much! I guess I'll find out if it works tomorrow at the hardware store. (Still trying to figure out why the sockets wouldn't work...they didn't have any of the screwdrivers where I looked, so I guess this time I'll go to Sears.)
