Saw 35's on with no lift.

In car domain, I think it was an 85 bronc. the guy had 35's on it with no lift. Body nor suspension. He cut the fenders up to the body line (the crease that runs the entire length of the truck on this generation truck) It looked nice, But i was wondering if he was going to or has rubbing problems. Anyone know if this would be a problem?

i would think it would rub when he turned
i have 35's on my 88 with a 4" lift and some of the fender cut out mine are 12.5" wide on the centered rims (i dont know how to describe them not "deep dish" all the way but halfway) anyways they are very close so i would think that if he turned very sharp he would rub

That looks pretty good. I would think that by putting spring spacers and tightening up the radius arms (i think thats what it is) it would help remove the rub. My mechanic specializes in broncs and told me to try that and see how much extra lift i could get.

To me it looks pretty tempting, keep the suspension stock, no change on drive shaft angles. You don't get any suspension travel improvement, but I only do light off road anyway. And the money you save on the lift kit goes toward regearing for the 35's. Looks like he avoids the arm and sway bar rubs with the wheel backspace. Somebody tell me the bad side of this before I cut up my 87.

Talking I have 35's

Look in my Gallery. I have an 81 with said fender cutting and it looks great. and yes they rub.. about as much as my 32's on my '88 but the rims on the 81 have MUTCHO offset.

I can't remember wich off road mag it is, but they are doing a section for budget build ups, one of the trucks is an 84 i think, but anyways, they slapped on some 35's with minor fender trimming, and are getting minimal rubbing.

ohyeah. The bad side.. hmm.. the wheel bearings are working about twice as hard and wil lwear faster, and the power steering pump has to work harder because the tires have more leaverage on the steering system, also if your ties sick out more than 1.5" in alberta, canada it's illegal but nothing a little bushwacker flares won't fix.

Ok...so what are you saying? Your post made 35's sound like a bad thing, then you post that you have had no problem with them....so which is it?

What's your beef with ttb?

I think he means that natrually with bigger tires things will wear out faster. He is not against it, just giving some warnings on doing it, thats all. As for the TTB, I love it, some don't. I know for serious off-roading straight axle tends to be more rugged. I think that is all he meant.

On my old 85' we cut out 4" all the way around each fender well and have 36" Iroks on it with very minimal rubbing. The wheels are 3.5" backspacing.
