choppy idle

i got a 2004 6.0 diesle stock and it has a choppy idle and smooths out if u tap the gas once just wondering if any one has same prob or if there is quick fix for it. thanks for info

If the motor does this when cold that's OK, if when warmed up, then NO it should not.

You will need to take it to the dealer and tell them to consider REFLASH the computer.

Or peplace the Refractuator in the Engine compartment

As a Petty Officer Second Class in the Navy, The Refractuator contols the idle circuit of all diesel engines.

Maybe in the Navy but not in real life. The PCM does it now.

Sounds like you need the reflash for rolling idle problem !
Chk the 6.0 forum for the proper flash #

Our experience is poor fuel quality can cause a choppy idle. We would increase the idle for a few seconds and it would be better. Good fuel, no problems.
Just a thought.
