What was the most powerful production Ford engine ever made?

Maybe the 427 side oiler? Although I don't know if it was actually a "production" engine.

The most powerful? Torque or HP?

HP would probably be the 427 SOHC. 657 HP, 2x4 barrel carbs, 12.5:1 CR....*drool*

Torque would be the 6.0 PSD.

The 427 SOHC was not a production motor. I think the most powerful production Ford engine prior to the supercharged 5.4 in the Lightning or the even hotter GT was the dual-quad 427 (425 gross HP) made in the early 1960's.

the boss nine was rated at 375/460 i believe...

The Boss 429 was seriously underrated on horsepower. I've got the Hot Rod Magazine from 1969 when they first tested it. I wanna say 500 and some, but correct me if I'm wrong.

Ok, so I have to ask, what is that engine of mine worth? I purchased it, hmmm, somewhere between 1987 and 1989 in running condition for $1,300. It's one of the few things that survived my divorce.

You should have seen it, me, 79 F-250, clothes, computer, some guns, fishing rods, and 1 427 side oiler. (I have no intention of selling, just curious)
