That was, what...like 1100 cubic inches, around 500 HP? I gotta go dig out my old tank books to read up on it now.

EDIT: Found it! GAN series, 1100 CID, 470 HP, then a GAF, also 1100 CID, 500 HP. Used in the M26 Pershing too.

You should have seen it, me, 79 F-250, clothes, computer, some guns, fishing rods, and 1 427 side oiler. (I have no intention of selling, just curious)
here is one for $9500.00

One word. WOW! I am one happy man today. Not that its worth that much, but because I'll have one very cool and rare engine to drop into my AC Cobra project one day.

The side oiler wasn't a production motor? I believe it met the requirements of 'production' as required..though I'm no guru so I can't say for certain. I know its not a 'mass production' motor at least.

Hkiefus, that will be one heck of a Cobra! If I can make it there, can I go for a ride? ^_^ First your 'Charged engine..now a side oiler.

1300 for a 10k motor? If only stocks were that good.

I saw one of those big tank engines on Ebay a few years ago. He had it sitting next to a 460 and it didn't look a whole lot bigger. I believe it was a 60 degree V8, and not a 90 degree V8, so while it might have been taller, it wasn't any wider. I think it had rods and not chains to turn the cam on top of the heads.
Like to get my hands on one of those for my EB...

Once the Boss 429 (dad had one with a high rise tunnel ram intake with to holley 850 double pumpers got pictures to prove it to), that was pushin 600hp at the rear wheels, needless to say it would pop wheelies with slicks and 5:30 gears, man i wished he wouldn't of sold it for 15 grand 15 years ago.

I thought the side oiler came factory in the original GT40.actually there was no "40" it was just a GT.

I believe most of the GT-40's were 351C powered, although I'm sure some others were fitted. I do know that the "40" in GT-40 simply stood for how tall the car was at the roofline.

I have a feeling the MkII GT's were powered by the side oiler. The MkI and MkIII I think were powered by 351C, and 302w respectively, but not 100% sure. Someone please feel free to add more info.

I don't think that any original GTs came with Clevelands. I've got a book somewhere that lists all of the serial numbers for the racing and street versions, as well as the racing results for the competition cars. The street versions of the GT came with 289s and were sold in '66 and '67. I don't remember if they sold any street versions after that, because the homologation rules changed. Some of the early street models had wire wheels, which were later changed to cast alloy wheels. The early racing versions used somewhere around a 290-302(or something close to that;because of rules) and later the 427 was fitted. It's a little confusing because changes to the cars were kind of done on the fly, making it hard to pin down when the changes were made. I'm sure this info is on the web somewhere.

Its my understanding the 351C didn't make its appearance in production cars until 1970 - so its pretty safe to say it wasn't in anything prior to that.
