They don't have to be pretty to be strong . . . just ask Pro. Sorry man, just had to give you a tough time about the "booger" welds. They looked far better than I was expecting from your descritions. Mine are pretty ugly but I've never had one break yet. My problem is I just don't do it often enough anymore . . . need to get my butt off the computer and back in the shop!

lol funny ivan

ok check this out.... http://www.danforthanchors.com/hitensile.html that is for a high tensile strength danforth anchor! it looks like it would hold quite nicely esp for all you drivong smaller trucks. but just to be safe folks like Pro, Ivan, and me who drive the heavy set trucks might consider getting 2 for that extra bit of power! it look s like i can prolly get 2 of these that i am sure would hold my truck and cost about $150!

the only major difference i see is the stock down the center is bent prolly 130-140* and then braced. i think that would be easy enough! and i wouldn't think it would have to be foldable although would be quite simple using lynch pins and tractor pins!

something to think about!

the biggest one weighes 190lbs though.. thats even more than ivan weighs.

I guess my booger welds arent too bad. The main problem is that my 135AMP Mig doesn't have enough cajones to weld much more than 3/16" [if you're lucky, that is]. I've been waiting to win the lottery to get a 250AMP MIG so I can burn in upto 1/2" (with gas). The machine I have will barely do 1/8" with gas now.

Judge me by my size, do you? Hmm? Hmm. And well you should not. For my ally is the Ford, and a powerful ally it is.

I got a little more than 190 on me but either way that's a lot to haul and move around.

Hah, no kidding. The only time I ever broke a weld was on a set of fixed ladder bars and I was hammering it off road...as the axle was tring to flex something had to give. That was awhile ago anyways. I guess my welds aren't TOO ugly, even though I make them sound that way. Its just that I've seen some guys whose welds look like art. One of these days I'll drag my butt off to a class or two and learn how to weld pretty and tig weld and stuff.

Yea, I don't know how much Ivan weighs but he's build like a brick chit house and has gotta top more than 200#. I'm good sized myself but damn, that IS allot of # to be lugging around. An No2 tank would be much lighter...just toggle the switch when you start losing momentum

the 190 lbs. one is WAY over kill for your trucks Once you get it to set, you could hook it up to your bumper and floor it and you would bury your tires. Something else to look into are the Bruce and Delta type anchors. Don't know if you would be able to remove one from the ground after winching your truck out though

Try flux core with gas, you'll get about another 1/16-3/32 penetration than solid w/gas. Might not be much,u every little bit helps

nothing wrong with booger welds as long as they hold.. I need to get an el-cheapo stick welder so I can get some good penetration...

I couldn't imagine dragging around a 190lb anchor. I dragged my 50lb toolbox around the junkyard 2day for about 2hrs and almost had a heartattack...
