I'm getting ready to make some up also. I was just gonna buy two, but whe i found the $500 price tag it all changed. Shouldn't be too tough, just a matter of using heavy enough material and making it foldable.

I'm not familiar with Pull Pal. What's this all about? Do they come in chrome?

It's a portable anchor point for winching, and if you really wanted to you could chrome it, but they only come in black (for you)

I've been thinking of making one too. Although I don't know how well the chrome would hold up. Just powdercoat it hot pink, silly

Pull pals are absolutely nessisary in the sand, trust me after being buried up to the frame in a dodge 2500 in the middle of nowhere on a 100 begree west Texas day with nothing to hook the winch to is miserable.

Anyone know how thick the stuff on a pull pal actually is? I'm figuring some 1/4 plate and some well placed welds and gr 8 bolts oughta do the trick quite nicely.

Yeah, but in the sand it's alot less work to bury your spare tire than in the dirt. Granted a pull-pal is even easier, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

Hmm, looks like they'd be super simple to build, just might take a bit o' experimenting with the angles and all that. I suppose you could build it with a selectable pin where you could adjust the angles until you found one that worked best. Those are cool!

they are pretty neat but i find it hard to fathom that a shovel that bends can hold in soft ground hard enough to extract a truck such as mine! i would love to borrow one and play with it cause i could sure as hell use one (if i got a winch back on my truck!!)

well, using the pictures on their site and a bit of geometry and trig, it wouldn't be THAT hard to figure out the exact lengths and angles since they tell you the folded length and give you a dead on side shot of the 11K unit. I'll run the numbers, see what i can get ya'll.
