Does anyone have a link with info how to read this air filter minder ?
Mine hasn't moved in 32K miles (except when the mechanic broke it off and I had to have it replaced)
truck still runs fine (read fast!) and no warning lite on the dash or anything....
Mine at 24 k miles has moved a smidge. I've done some off roading with it and there's a bit of dust that's been kicked up over the last year near my office from contstruction in the area. Other than that, the air here is pretty clear.
We had a lot of smoke and particles (<1,000ppm) in the area so decided to change air filter at 30,000. Wasn't too bad, but could tell the difference between the new and old filter (color). Still have not figured out how to reset the filterminder. Ours didn't move much at all not really sure how accurate they are.
The filter minder is reset by depressing the yellow rubber button. It works off of vaccum. As the filter catches more debris and slows the flow of air the yellow bobber inside moves out (closer to filter housing). My 550 is constantly on land development jobsites so I've seen the filter minder pretrude to about the 3/4 mark and still no light. Just to check if it was operable I pulled the bobber to the max point and low and behold the dash light came on. For me it is not the filter minder that tells me that the filter is becoming clogged, it's the increse of black smoke from the lack of air.
