Back from first long road trip

With the Ex that is... I went from Washington DC area to Hampton NH and back and got 15.3 mpg calculated by hand. The on board computer said 15.1. It was my wife, my daughter and myself and about 1000lbs worth of stuff. I love this truck!!!!

While I am a new owner of a 2004 diesel excursion, your mileage does not sound like what I am getting. Are you a gas X?

I drove with the kids from Lafayette, LA to South Bend, IN over to Canada to see the Hockey Hall Of Fame then down to Niagra Falls down to Indy Speedway then home for a total of 3250 miles and in my V10 Crew Cab I averaged 15.8 MPG. The day I bought my V10 4X4 I drove from Forth Woth to Lafayette 450 miles and I got 14 even running 75 - 80 MPH. Day before Yesterday I went to Houston and back and got 14.6. Next week some time I will either be going to Montana or New Mexico depending on where the job is, if it is New Mexico I will more than likey drag my camper (10,000 lb) so I am looking forward to seeing what the MPG will be.

milage not an issue

I dont know how people with x's get such crappy mileage. When I pull my steel two horse bumper pull trailer fully loaded (each horse 1,200 pounds) and a dressing room fully loaded ( saddles, feed, 50 gallons of water, tons of misc) I get at the least 15. No trailer 16-17. I have gotten up to 19 on the highway (doing the 55-60 thing) Mine is the 5.4 engine. I have had alot of probs but gas mileage has not really been a prob. I do have a problem however with forking over 80 bucks for a fill up. That is a hard pill to swallow. My 2001 has 120,000 miles on it and I do an oil change every other month.

My Ex is a v10. If I keep my foot out of it and keep my speed to 60 -65 I get mid 15's. If I drive it like I stole it then it gets much worse.

If you only fill the tank half full then its only 40 bucks... Like breaking that pill in two and taking half at a time. 15MPG on a vehicle that has half the tank is still 15MPG Ask my Expedition.. LOL

Looking forward to trading my beloved Expy on an Excursion soon... I think..

jdadamsjr I left before seeing this post but I went through Houston. I am in, well you know the dirt road that goes to BFE? OK once you get off that road you go another 30 miles through hell then you get to New Mexico where I am.

My wirless internet shows signal but does not work of course, thank Cingular! They said they had a problem I asked if I was getting a credit their answer was "We do not guaranty service!" So why did I sign a contract for service

Any way the company man on the rig has Direct Way so I am able to get on every now and then. If I go back through the big D I will send you a PM. Thanks for the invite

Talking

That's why I use Verizon... some don't like it...
but my signal is EVERYWHERE !

Ask him how is that DirectWay? -
I'm getting ready to move and I may have to look into that !

Hey, and Ole' buddy, Ole Pal.....

if you're coming back thru around the end of Sept.....
I could use a truck to haul some of my junk to the new house

Ole' buddy, Ole' Pal

LOL Would be glad to help but looks like it will be this week sometime? Not sure. The Direct Way seams a little slow to me but I am used to cable. I told Cingular to stick their contract an no service where they wished and don't even think of trying to send me a bill. So now I am thinking of getting Direct way because it is portable, OK somewhat.
