I have a 2004 superduty 4x4, V10, 4.30 gear, shortbed and 12000 miles.
I have experienced since new, a vibration in the drivetrain. This only occurs when the engine is cold (summer or winter)and I am pulling a 19' gooseneck w/stump-grinder, tow wieght approx. 6000 pounds.
It does not vibrate when cold and without load or after engine and trans have reached normal operating temps when pulling my load.
I have not taken it to the dealer at this time. Has anyone else experienced similar, if so and it has been fixed what was the cure?
How much backlash is in the rear diff? I know it sounds far-fetched, but if it happens on acceleration and deceleration, it's more than likely the diff or the tranny.
But, we can't rule out the carrier bearing. Have you checked to see that the rubber housing is not torn?
Big orn ,remind him about rear dif (ls units) if its on take off !
could be limited slip unit or no friction modifier or not enough friction modifier within the diff from the factory.we know this happens

take in and have them put the wds analyzer on it.

Didn't think of that, Forty, but, yes, they do "shudder" when not setup properly or when the lube/fricmod is "worn out".
