By-passing the ignition switch

He guys, i've accuired a 74 Ford F-100 with a 302 in it, but the wiring harness is hacked up, i was wondering whats the least necessary wiring require to atleast turn it over with a screwdriver at the solinoid just to see how strong it runs, what all needs to be wired up.

Thanks,
Mike

yes if the ignition has power and you crank it over it should start unless it has alot of electronic do dads.

EDIT:

it looks like you have a fairly clean motor
try giving it 12V to the + side of the coil make sure it has a good ground and give it power to the solonoid it should start
how long has it been siting? is the fuel good?

Attention all users.

FTE allows 60 minutes for a user to go back and edit (make changes) to their own posts.

It is more beneficial to FTE to do this, rather than clicking *Post Reply* again just to add 1 or 2 kb of text instead of re-loading the whole user's profile again.

Please help us.

"Generic" Duraspark diagrams.
I actually have a seperate Duraspark system made from leftover parts I use for testing. You can just grab the parts and harness sections from a donor car or truck. and have a stand-alone harness. Even if the rest of the truck wiring it fried the truck will be driveable.
