I'm an oldschool guy and I'd first say 390. But there a lot more performance parts out there for the 351. Cause if your like the rest of us blue blooded fans your part-time bracket racer daily driver, will very soon become full time bracket racer! All in all I'd say you couldn't go wrong with either one, but I'd still have to lean more towards the 351.

Whats Better?

Cody, having owned both, I would say the 390 is better. I had and drove everyday (except in snow) a '70 Mach1 with a 351C with the big heads on it. Had a close ratio 4 spd in it. It had the facory flattop pistons in it. I could'nt get away with premium pump gas and had to mix in 50% 'blue' avaiation fuel. The engine had tons of power at or above 3500 rpms, and was lots of fun, but a lower rpms it was a dead player. Most of the time you spend street driving is at less than 3500 rpms. So if your planned ride is going to be street driven, ever, I think a well built 390 with a dual plane intake would be awhole lot more practical. DF
