I have a problem with my factory radio. The lights on it turn on (the lights around the power *** and buttons not the screen) but the radio wont. When the car is off I can push the clock button and the clock on the screan will turn on but if the car is turned on the clock wont work anymore. The only time I get power to the screen which displays the station, volume, and etc... is when the car is turned off and I push the clock button. Does anyone know why it's doing this? Also the people that owned it before me had a system in it and their own cd player in the dash. I'm guessing when they put the factory back in they did not do somthing right. I do know for a fact that the radio does work because I put it in another explorer and it worked so its not the radio itself. Please HELP!!!
Thank You

You appear to be having a problem with the IGN lead which applies +12 when the key is on or in ACC. If you have BAT (battery) the clock will work and the lights in the radio are powered from the dimmer circuit,
You will need a wiring diagram as the previous owner probably cut the connector off and spliced directly into the vehicle's harness rather than doing it the right way and using an adapter.
The switched power from RUN or ACCY is on a fuse, so check that first. The wire for this current is Yellow with a Black stripe. Check to make sure voltage gets to it with key in the ACCY position.
Also, improper grounding can cause these type of funky problems. Make sure the wires that are Black and Black w/Light Green stripe are both grounded.
The Light Blue w/Red stripe is the ILLUMINATION signal.
The Light Green with Purple stripe wire is the HOT AT ALL TIMES and is also fused.
The other connector and all it's wires go to speakers.
