96 ranger 4 banger manual at 96000 miles I finally have to do a major repair... I have to do something about the tranny. I beat the heck out of it (1-2-3-2-4-5 shift pattern) It took me a while to realize it's a truck not a mustang.

I actually got tired of the little problems with my 2001 3.0 4x4 auto sc and wanted another truck too. So I bought another truck. Another RANGER, but this time a 4.0 5 speed. My problems have all gone away. Those doggy 3.0s get ya thinking ya got a lemon. Its not a lemon, its a dog.

145,000 mi on a 1999 3.0L XLT 4X4. Replaced the alternator at 130,000. Still goin' strong. Will attempt to grease the rear driveshaft slip yoke splines, that hesitation kills me in So. Cal traffic everyday.

An old trick is to compair the wear on your pedels,(gas, break)to one that you know has around 100,000 on it,if yours are wore down more then you have more miles.
