off road carb

whats a good carb for a 460 that is stock except for a new cam i looked somewhere that said this engine needs a 800 cfm or more carb any one know for sure? also should i get a holly or an edelbrock?

a mostly stock 460 should run fine with a 650 CFM carb...you'll lose a little top end, but pick up some fuel economy.. as for carb selection, I liked my 650 vaccum secondary holley..

for offroad purposes it is hard to surpass the Holley Truck Avenger. with a mild/hot cam get the 750/800 cfm flavor !

Holley truck avenger 770. Used it myself on one of my trucks, worked great.

My 78 F150 460 4x4 has a Holley 750. I haven't had any problems with it and we do a lot of wheelin'.

For the ultimate off-road carb that will run at any angle, convert to LP. It's an amazing setup!

Liquified Propane. Same stuff you use on your gas grille.

Cheaper than gas and not too expensive to do the conversion.

If you don't wanna shell out the cash for a new carb, get a quadrajet 750 off of a GM. They're the closest you can get to "unstallable" w/o going FI. You can also pick them up for $50 all day long.

I'll ask my cousin this weekend where he got all his stuff from and let you know Monday.

Til then READ THIS for some good info, and do a google search for "LP conversion". There's tons of good info available.
