86' Transfer Case with Slip Yoke HELP!!!!
My ole' ladys got a 86' F150 with a bad transfer case. From my understanding it has a slip yoke output instead of the bolt on. These were only made from 84' to 86' and i can't find one ANYWHERE!!!!! Last week i went on a "jinkyard" tour and found myself under a bunch of trucks looking for one with a slip yoke. When i finally did find one, they took it out only to find out the darn thing was bad. Apparently, thats why that truck was there. What am i supposed to do??? My ole' lady is a friggin mess and i am hating life cause of it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wouldn't you then need to get a rear driveshaft with a slip joint in it? I could be wrong about this, but I'm pretty sure there needs to be a slip joint somewhere in the rear driveline. If you put a fixed yoke case in place with a solid driveshaft, I'm pretty sure you're going to break something pretty quickly.
My '89 F-150 is a slip yoke BW 13-56 - what are you looking to replace? You might be able to expand your search a little more than you think.

ok, first, i guess i need to understand what the problem actually is. I have an 86 f 150, and it has a new process 208 transfer case in it. My manual says a
borg/ warner 1345 was also used.
Now, what part is giving you the grief, the front drive shaft, or the rear?
The front shaft has a slip joint about a foot away from the transfercase, the rear is solid, except where it slides into the trans case. Is it the rear one giveing you the problems? If so, you should be able to get a new one from a dealer.
The sugestion of a different transfer case is to get away from the poor/ hard to find slip yokes.
Either way, I would think a ford dealer should be able to get a new one, or, depending on the problem, a good drive line rebuilder may be able to rebuild the yoke, depending on the problem.

Wonder how much a new one would be? The truck is sitting at the shop and the guy just said the tcase needs to be replaced, so i have no idea whats actually wrong with it. Apparently it will drive in 4L, so i am thinking something must be wrong with the rear output. I fianlly found one at a salvage yard around town for $300. Didnt really want to spend that much, but sounds like i may have to.
