cab steps

So I was planning on ordering the Chrome tube steps, but then today I realized that will definately lead to many a bruised shin during plowing season. I was then thinking the molded jobbies, bit then toda I saw a 150 with these, but the driver's side was all pushed up in the middle, like they didn't see the big stum they were driving over. Now I don't know if I should get them or nothing. Will there be too big of a step not to have anything there? I know in my '90 with 235/85/16s without the runningboards I would have to jump up there. I'm planning on keeping the stock tires for a while, so any opinions appreciated. Keep in mind it will be my only transportation, personal and fence business. Thanks.

I have thought of steps myself but haven't made up my mind on any just for the fact that the would get wacked hanging off the side and lower than the truck. I have seen ones that retract under the truck and extend for use. I haven't seen them to actually touch them only in catalogs. If I am not mistaken jc whitney may have them. Try a google.com search for retractable truck steps.?

retractable steps seem to high tech for me, just like the remote controlled tailgate I saw at Motorhaven tonight. Cool idea, but for me it's just not practical. I ordered the plastic molded, figuring it would be a nice boost into the cab, plus somewhere to wipe my feet, and help keep under the door clean.
