Question need help with oxygen sensor..97 Expedition

My check engine light is on so I used a OBDII to check it out on my 97 Expedition. It says its the sensor in the front "bank#2", I don't know which one it is, Passenger side or driver side? If its the passenger side it looks very difficult to replace. How do I get it off? Is there a special tool to remove and replace the oxygen sensors? Should I replace all of them at the same time? I don't know what to do. Any advice will help, Thanks.

Bank 2 is the drivers side and it is easier to replace.

To do the passenger side the easiest way is to remove the starter. The connector is hard to get to (attached to the back of the head) so sometimes it is easiest to remove the inner fender as well.

The driver side is much easier - lucky you!

I'd wait until the others fail before replacing them.

They make a special socket for O2 sensors, but I've never used it. I've always just soaked the area in penetrating oil and used a wrench. It's been a while since I changed one so I can't remember if you are supposed to use anti-sieze or not. Maybe someone will come along here and let us know for sure.

I always use a wrench, not the socket.

Yes, put anti-sieze on the threads when you put the new one back in.

Thanks NoMo and itlkick I found the special o2 sensor socket wrench at a local auto parts supply for rent. It worked out perfect, I changed the sensor and the check engine light went off. Thanks again for the help and info.

I use anti seize on everything you never know when you will have to take it apart again before you sell. My rotors on my 97 EB fell off when I replaced the brakes the second time no sledge hammer needed.
