Question 10k mod

very new to 7.3l psd it is a 99.5 with 42,000 miles automatic transmission Crew cab with 4" lift and 33's other than that it is all stock but I have installed a-pillar gauges to keep track of things. My question is the 10k mod safe and effective? I was going to go to radio shack tomorrow to get the materials, not quite sure on how to plug it in yet but I am reserching how to do it, and do you guys have any tips on how to install it. I would like to have a little more "Umph" will be towing this weekend and want to see how it would do with this mod.Any help would be appreciated just kinda nervous want the truck to be reliable and long lasting with no problems. Oh yeah I just ordered my sonnax valve for the tranny to hep that out.I think I would be happy with this 10k mod till I get money for an exhaust then a chip, but you have to start somewhere THANKS for all the help

Actually, I just yanked the 10k out in favor of the newer clamp mod. You have to cut a wire with this one, so if you have a little bit of warranty left, wait until you don't.... I'm quite pleased with the mod. so far. I installed it with a switch, and there is no question it is effective when you mash the pedal then flip the switch. Turbo spools, exhaust gets nice and black, and you go.

This is what I am speaking of.

Try them both and compare them. The 10k costs about $0.25, and I think I had about $9.00 in the clamp (because I soldered all the components to a PC board and put it in a project box).

all out of warranty so that is not a problem. the clamp thing you use only when u are in the throttle? you cant leave it on all the time? wont put too much fuel in and get washed into the oil?

Just did the clamp mod to my 2000. Big Difference. Better throttle response, more power, more smoke (a bit compared to none) and a noticeable improvement in fuel mileage. I am one of the lucky ones to get the choppy idle, though. I will live with it to get the better mileage. Strange thing is, I put a switch on mine, but now even off the idle is rough.

My questions?
If this mod raises the HPOP pressure, is there a way to adjust the pump itself? Any danger of damaging the injectors with the higher pressure? Any idea if adding a fourth diode might cure the idle?

-choppy idle.

Sure, you could leave it on all the time, the switch was optional. I put the switch in because, like the 10k, at low speed/light throttle, the throttle gets rather touchy. As far as putting too much fuel in, I don't have a definitive answer. Most chips/tuners also tweak the fuel supply pressure, so I don't really worry about it.
