My truck's flashers have not worked since I have owned the truck (since 2002). All of the lights, including blinkers and brakes, work normally when the hazard switch is not activated, but none of them work at all when the hazards are activated. I have checked all of the fuses and replaced the relay in the fuse box. Any ideas? The truck is a 92 F250 4x4 5.8L E4OD. The only addition to the light wiring is a trailer light harness. It is just a simple 4-wire harness that works perfectly, except of course for the flashers.
Hmmm... mine don't work either, and I have practically the same truck as you! Mine just dont work at all. I haven't tested to see if anything else works while the hazz flash switch is on. Everything else works as normal with the switch off though.
I kind of have a problem like this, although mine work for a bit then they just stick and don't blink so it looks like my brake lights are on and all my turn signals are on....weird, dunno what it is, i'll check the fuse when i think of it
Both of those sound like a bad flasher. Don't know about that year, but most have a separate flasher for hazard and signals. Some of the flashers on the older trucks are kind of "hidden" way up in the dash. Lights coming on but not flashing has almost GOT to be the flasher.
So 200000, I should look for a separate relay besides the one in the fuse panel? You think it is up underneath the dash? I hate trying to work up there. There is so much stuff in the way, you can't see anything. I'll give it a shot though, if that's what you think it is.
Thanks!
If your truck has the hazard light button on top of the steering column, the switch may be dirty. I managed to get mine on a 96 working by pushing it in and out a bunch of times. I notice that if is not used for a long time it may require the same proceedure.
I bet it's your flasher as well. If I remember right mine is under the same access panel as the fuses but further toward your right knee. You should be able to see and get to it fairly easy.
on the 96 the hazard flasher is on the back side of fuse block right behind the turn signal flasher. my 96 did the same thing and all i had to do was work the hazard switch up and down a bunch of times and all was well. due to the position of the switch they are suseptible to dust and other foreign objects. if all else fails check the wiring harness to make sure it is plugged in good. the hazard flasher and turn signal switch is all one assembly so that could get costly a little.
