build Date on 6.0

build Date on 6.0

I'm a newby to this Diesel world. I looked on the side of the engine and had the following

4847/9678/2

Can anyone tell me the build date, or am I looking at the wrong barcode?
Truck Build Date is June of '04.

There should be a label on the drivers side valve cover (kind of toward the rear.) You might need a flashlight to read it. It will have a day, month and year like 03 Jan 2003. That's the engine build date. The plant location is under that date.

My sticker with all that info is on the passenger side. Guess they changed here and there as the which side. Mine is a white and blue sticker about 5in by 3in. Mine has Engine build as well as VIN #, and the ratings of the engine, ie.. 325horse@3300, 560lbs Torque @2200 all that info on there.. passenger side valve cover read able if you lean over or stand on tire.

The engine build sticker is actually on top of the FICM that is over the valve cover on the driver side way in the back toward the firewall. See the bottom picture at

OK well mine is on the passenger side, should i be worried. I dont have anything on the driver side...

You have a sticker on the passenger side. It tells you the year model of the engine, HP and all that. It does not tell you the build date. On the driver side, if you had the FICM replaced there won't be this stilcker but if it is stock, it should be there. You have to get up in the engine compartment with a flashlight and really look around.

oh ok. i wonder if mine has been changed or somthing, i just went and looked at it and i used the flashlight and couldnt see ANYTHING on the driver side but its says build 10/03 on the label, hmmmmm
