[updated:LAST EDITED ON 02-Apr-02 AT 10:47 PM (EST)]Don't know if this subject is to serious for you pickup drivin dudes but it might be interesting to hear opinions on the subject. Not to choose sides because that might be to volitile. Just honest opinions on possible solutions. What drives a person to choose to blow themselves to pieces? If the USA or CANADA were occupied by a foreign nation would you just lie down and take it? If your Truck was occupied by a Neighbors cat what would be your response? If your Neighbor blew up your truck what would be your response? I just can't comprehend the whole thing. Heeellllpppp Meeeeeee

The biggest problem I think, regarding suicide bombers, is that they think they will become Martyrs in their death and be blessed with unlimited Virgins after they die.

They are NOT well educated people, they are brainwashed under cattle like teaching.

That's why I came up with :instead of putting air marshalls on all commericial aircraft, they should put a pig on every airplane.
Why ? you ask ,because if they were surrounded /accompanied by a pig ,it would be a BAD omen, and if they Die ,they will be going to Hell instead heaven.

Ya know, I'm not entirely sure how I feel about that region of the world. There is so much unrest and violence throughout the whole middle east. Even the countries in a "state of peace" have very well developed anti(place any middle-east government here) groups just waiting to get strong enough to make a stand. I know that not everyone can be evil, but it seems to have such a strong grip that it gives everybody a bad name. I believe that there must be something fundamentally wrong with what they teach their children to create such monsters and their pawns. Frankly, I'm not so sure that there is anything we can do to stop this short of a full-scale invasion and occupation of the entire middle-east, and we all know that the cost in both American and arab lives would be far too high. It seems to me to really be a lose-lose situation.

Dennis,
I agree with you wholeheartedly. During the Phillipine Insurrection around the turn of last century, Gen. Pershing had the Muslim "rebels" that were captured shot. First, the bullets that were to be used were dipped in pig fat. Second, after the execution, the bodies were placed inside pig skins and buried. All of this was done in plain sight of the muslims who faced local charges. Once they were released, and consequently, reported to their "handlers", the insurrection died almost immediatly! This method I believe would prove most effective today, but our society (Canada included) has grown too warm and fuzzy for this measure. It's a sad thing.

As a student of military history as well as being aquainted with middle-eastern cultures, the ONLY thing these people understand is force. Until our governments understand that, there is no answer.Nor will there be peace. In the words of one of my favorite Civil War generals Nathan B. Forrest, "War means fightin', and fightin means killin'." You cannot fight a war with one hand behind your back because you don't want to offend some neighboring country.

Chuck, I passed your and Mil1ion's posts on to a friend who knows a lot of military history. He has a question for you:

"Very interesting! Did not know that about Gen. Black Jack Pershing. Oh by the way, I use to know why he was called Black Jack Pershing but have forgotten why--can you please ask your friend why? Thank you and have a great day!"

Hey Paul,

Sure do. Earlier in his career he was in command of colored troops (the services remained segregated until Viet Nam era) and his contemporaries gave him the nick-name. He had a reputation as a hard-driving, but fair commander.

Since the question was asked, here's the answer. It was recorded by Moses 4000 years ago, commented on by Paul 2000 years ago and translated into English by King James of England so that we could read and understand it today.

4000+ years ago the Arab and Jewish nations were started and both trace their roots to one in the same man; Abraham. Even today, neither group will deny that the other group has roots going back to Abraham. Genetically it has been proven through DNA that the Arabs and Jews have a common ancestry.

See Genesis 16 & 17 for the birth of Ishmael (Arab decendents) to Hagar (Sarah's maid or bondwoman) and the reconfirmed promise of Issac, and Genesis 21 for the birth of Issac (Jewish decendents) to Sarah (the wife of Abraham or a free woman) and then Ishmael & Hagar being sent away.

In light of this topic, Genesis 16:12 is a particularly interesting prediction/revelation by the Angel of the Lord speaking to Hagar;

Genesis 16:11-12 New American Standard Version

16:11 The angel of the LORD said to her further, "Behold, you are
with child, And you will bear a son; And you shall call his name Ishmael, Because the LORD has given heed to your affliction.
16:12 "He will be a wild donkey of a man, His hand will be against everyone, And everyone's hand will be against him; And he will live to the east of all his brothers."

Fast forward 2000 years, the Apostle Paul is writing to the Galatians explaining the difference of living under Mosaic Law (The 10 Commandments) and living under Grace (accepting the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ's death and resurection). In verse 29, Paul writes that just as Ishmael persecuted Issac, so it is now also (that Arabs were persecuting Jews)

Galatians 4:21-31 New American Standard Version

4:21 Tell me, you who want to be under law, do you not listen to the law?
4:22 For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the bondwoman and one by the free woman.
4:23 But the son by the bondwoman was born according to the flesh, and the son by the free woman through the promise.
4:24 This is allegorically speaking, for these {women} are two covenants: one {proceeding} from Mount Sinai bearing children who are to be slaves; she is Hagar.
4:25 Now this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia and corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for she is in slavery with her children.
4:26 But the Jerusalem above is free; she is our mother.
4:27 For it is written, "REJOICE, BARREN WOMAN WHO DOES NOT BEAR; BREAK FORTH AND SHOUT, YOU WHO ARE NOT IN LABOR; FOR MORE NUMEROUS ARE THE CHILDREN OF THE DESOLATE THAN OF THE ONE WHO HAS A HUSBAND."
4:28 And you brethren, like Isaac, are children of promise.
4:29 But as at that time he who was born according to the flesh persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, so it is now also.
4:30 But what does the Scripture say? "CAST OUT THE BONDWOMAN AND HER SON, FOR THE SON OF THE BONDWOMAN SHALL NOT BE AN HEIR WITH THE SON OF THE FREE WOMAN."
4:31 So then, brethren, we are not children of a bondwoman, but of the free woman.

Fast forward 2000 years, the Nation of Isreal was created in 1948. Since that time, he who was born according to the flesh persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, so it is now also.

To find out how it all ends, read the Book of Revelations.

Its all very basic , Two groups want to occupy the same piece of real estate , Neither is willing to compromise regardless of who intervenes or cares about it . I dont care what is written in scriptures or the bible , these are basically two tribes that really dont care what anyone thinks , believes or worships . If either the Israelis or the Palestinians had the opportunity to anililate the other , they would do it . So much talk of religion etc , But when the rubber hits the road this is , & has been for 50 yrs + nothing more than a 2 groups that absolutely hate one another . To make it all justifable they cloak it all under religion . Thou shall not kill , Unless its a bus full of Isarealis or a group of Palestians blown to pieces in a building ....theres your religion . What a joke . I personally dont care who lives where , if these two peoples want to kill one another , let them . I think the more the worlds media shines the light on this the worse it will get , This is a conflict that loves the spotlight because each side wants the world to side with their respective cause . I say ...Good luck , Let us know what happens . Just look at history , How many have fought & died for religion & its beliefs . Im betting if the Usa & the United Nations shyed away from this & ignored them you would see a resolution , It would be who had the biggest guns , but that is the way our world works these days . Every nation on this planet has had a struggle in some form . Israel & Palestine are no different ...Gods chosen people , Thats another thing , From what you have read in the bible & know of religion , Do you really think God would chose a fav ? If so , Id have to ask God , If you had to drive a truck , What would it be ? What if he said Im waiting for a Daewoo Truck .

I've wondered, If the Jews were(are?) God's chosen people, why was he so mean to them?

When an athelete says it's because of God that I won, Is he really saying God hated the other team?

Does God play sports?

Is the story of the garden of eden a story of creation or an early sex ed story?

See what happens when you let your mind wander? It might find a minefield. Having firmly whacked the hornets nest let the fun begin.

>I've wondered, If the Jews were(are?) God's chosen people,
>why was he so mean to them?

Because they repeatedly disobeyed God.

It would be better to say, it is because of God that I am able to play the game and I am thankful for this win. No he doesn't hate the other team, but God's children don't always get what they want. If fact, they often don't get what they want because what they want often is not God's will for them.

Does God play sports?

Well, when we were kids and there was thunder, my parents used to joke that they were bowling in Heaven.

>Is the story of the garden of eden a story of creation or an
>early sex ed story?

In a sense it is both because it tells us what happened to ruin the creation and it tells us how sex, which was created perfect and good, became corrupted. Imagine what it would have been like before the fall.

>See what happens when you let your mind wander? It might

SportDeck262s analysis is well documented. However, regardless whether one believes the Biblical origin of the middle east strife, it is real and it is not going to go away.

Ok, then what was Job's great offense? And what did the Jews do to bring the holocaust upon themselves?

I don't have to imagine. It would have been like when I was a child and things were simple. What they call the age of innocence. Why do we try to make kids grow up so fast today? Let them enjoy their 'Eden' as long as possible.

A local talk show host asked yesterday should we be telling Israel what to do? I say definately yes we should.
1. Point the little end of the gun at the enemy
2. Don't stand behind a LAWS rocket when it is being fired.
3. This little button makes the bombs fall off the plane.
and
4. Daisy Cutters cost $25,000 each. For you we can work out a volume discount.

Armored bulldozer, what a concept.
