I just went out & looked at mine. Looks kind of like a spring steel clip. Gave it a little poking & twisting and had no luck.
Is there another special tool needed to remove the inside mirror?
AL.
From: Indianapolis, but i came from back roads of Southeast Missouri
well i took mine off the hard way. I got ticked off and punched it and the mirror came off of the mount, kinda a ball and socket set up. well yesterday, the day after, i got my cool and tryed to put it back on. I tried poping it back on with no luck so i put a little WD on it. I started pushing and spinning and it started to slide on until my window went crick and about four nice cracks sprang every direction. i was mad but i went about my business. later i was tell my gf about it and just barly tapped on it to show her and the cracks sprang about a foot in all directions ha... anyways...if i had been easier and spun on it it would have gone on better.
All I know is that mine came off at the window, and it will not go back on for anything. I tried using some rear view mirror adhesive stuff from the auto part store and it fell off in like 15 minutes. Oh ya, and the "button", which is what they call the little metal piece that slides into the rear view mirror and is connected to the windshield, will not slide out of the mirror part, so its a pain to try and reattach to the window.
