Running no muffler will make it loud, but will not give it the best sound. I would put a flowmaster 40 series(the original not the delta flow). Also, what kind of engine do you have.

I've got a Flowmaster 40 Series. Sounds great, but volume is disappointing. Too quiet. You'll have to take your cats off to make it loud.

You want loud and chattery.......run dual glasspacks. You want deep and powerful.....run dual 40 series flowmasters.

glass packs on a v-8 gives a deep and powerfull sound but at idle you think the truck died its so quiet. I would run straight pipes with 3inch or 4inch long tips or turn downs.

LOL, monster truck........your talking about a 230hp engine IF THAT not a alcohol burning 1500hp monster. You want monster truck, the only way to get that is either run straight headers or weld glasspacks right on the end of the headers. Sorry I know that doesnt help much, but in order to get the sound you want, it just isnt going to be legal. HEY, maybe try single chamber 40 series flowmaster. I hear they make a heck of a noise. Check into those.

The smaller the muffler is, generally, the louder it will be. Do you mind much interior noise? The 40 series is horrible about this from what I hear.

If you use the search feature I think you will find all the information you need to know and then some.

Also, check out exhaustsoundclips.com.

I have had my exhaust done 3 times on my 96 f150 351 befor I got it to sound decent and its still not very loud..My setup now is a highflow 2nd cat then no muffler with a Y pipe into duals with 3.5x18 SS tips at 45s..Sounds mean but not to loud..The highflow cat is the only way it will ever make any head turning noise..

I have a 1994 ford f-150 with 5.8 liter 351. I dont want to take off the cat or do any extra work. I only have one cat and just want to put a muffller on it to make it loud and run dual tips out the back. Does anybody have any suggestions on what kind of muffler would make it loud and sound good and deep.

So the flowmaster 40 series will really rumble and give some deep powerful sounds with one cat and duals out the back.
