1997 explorer will not start
my 1997 explorer 4.0 L sohc suddenly stalled in reverese and it refuses to start.
my garage think its a fuel problem.
they have changed the fuel pump and valves still no go.
after the engine stalled and i tried to start it and it made a clanking sound?
could it be the timeing chain jumping and therfore the timeing is out and wont let the engine fire up.
when you turn the engine over it coughs a little but will not fire up.

Welcome to FTE!
Did the check engine light come on? If so, you need to pull the codes.
Also, was it a sharp jerking motion that caused the stall? As in maybe it could be the Fuel Shut-Off switch was activated?
I doubt it's a timing chain-related issue...
