Can anyone tell me why the stock Lightning makes 40 more hp than the Harley? Is the boost and charger the same on both trucks and perhaps there are other differences?
just downsized my upper pulley to a 4lb. big jump in hp and torque. the tuner i have is through Diablo and it has a "pulley tune" option to help adjust the air to fuel ratio's...but still im told it could/possibly detonate...but i have been told that it won't...
They didnt probe it...
However, i do have a Diablo tuner which the manual say to program the "pulley tune" once the upper pulley is replaced with a smaller one...4-6lb. The guy said that my cat was popping a lot, which meant that it was running to rich...so he recommended to go back to the "performance tune" of the programmer...so i did.
Next week or so, im going to have the lower pulley changed out, and they are going to pull my computer and burn a specific chip for it and re-callibrate the A/F ratio's.
Pushing four extra pounds of boost w/o the proper tune is a recipe for disaster.
Get the truck up on a dyno and take an Air/Fuel reading. Anything higher than a 12.7 and you're in the risky zone.
The HD"s have a different piston & ring configuration than the L. The block is exactly the same as with all the parts with the exception of the Damper pulley, SC pulley, & the factory programing. They are not far from the regular 5.4L as far as internal componets are concerned. (A slight difference in the rings & bore).
It should be OK, but like Lightning Rod said I would be cautious! If you change your SC pulley you have to upgrade your Damper pulley!! and the idle pulley as well.
