Harley vs Lightning pistons
Do Harley and Lightnings have same pistons? I was told maybe the L has silicone pistons and HD does not so boost is lower. I am still trying to understand why Ford would build different engines for the L and HD. I want L+ power in my 03 HD and i am afraid to boost it any higher.

They didn't, they used a different supercharger pulley wheel and programming for the PCM on the HD compared to the L.
Forged rods and pistons were used in the Lightning builds first, before Ford switched to hypereutectic rods and pistons.
For corresponding same year builds, the engine internals are the same for the L and HD.

Hi Stewart, Thanks for the info. I will now make adding a 6# kit and tune to my 03 HD. I am quite excited to know I can squeeze a little more HP from the HD without looking sleep.
