I read numorous other posts and found simular problems, but I want to ask about my particular application. I have a 2000 extented cab Ranger, 4.0, automatic, 2wd with 50K miles. Every morning when I leave for work the truck is hard to keep running and will idle rough and quit. I have to keep my foot on the gas to get it going. It runs fine going down the road, but when I stop at a traffic light it idles rough or quits again. The check engine light is NOT on, the temp, oil pressure, and voltage gages read normal. It use to do this only once in a while, but now does it almost every morning. I have added a fuel system cleaner and replaced the fuel filter, but the problem persists. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Also, which manual would you recommend, Haynes or Chiltons? I can make the simple repairs and replace parts myself as long as I have some good instructions from one of these manuals. I would rather attempt the repairs myself before I have to take it to a repair shop.
Thanks for the information! I ordered the IAC valve today from O'Reily's for $48 and will receive it on Wednesday. Autozone and Advanced both told me they could not get it. I'm gonna cross my fingers and hope it fixes my problem. I'll post back as soon as I install it and let you know if it worked. Thanks again!
