Had this in the exhaust forum, was suggested I ask it here. Since I have no cats, the air tube for them is pretty useless. This is all that the smog pump runs, correct? If so, where is it and how do I disable it? Thanks.
It's as simple as removing the drive belt...that's it. I'd go ahead and unbolt the pump to save weight and get rid of the "plumbing" to clear up some of the clutter. You'll just have to block off the exhaust manifold fitting with a pipe plug.
if its a serpatine belt, you'll have to get a smaller one, most places ask if you have a air pump/smog pump so should be easy to get another belt, was thinking about removing mine soon,
Why go through the trouble? It can't possibly eat that much power, or save that much weight. Personally, I would like to know what kind of PSI it puts out and if it would be suitable for on-board-air.
