Question 1994 front end alignment

Could someone please tell me if they have any experience with front end alignment on a 1994 F150 4X4.
I'm trying to find out what if any special tools may be required to remove the camber/caster adjustment eccentric sleeves and what the proper procedure to remove them would be.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.... AL

It's a real pain to tear the front end down that far. You have to remove the wheel, brake caliper, hub, spindle nuts (special tool required), outer bearing, brake rotor, spindle, and then the knuckle itself. Once you get it down to the knuckle, plan on doing a lot of oiling and banging with a BFH.

Then you can adjust the camber/caster. But, because of Ford's lousy design, you can't adjust one without screwing up the other.

You can do it, but plan on a weekend to do both sides. Of course, you won't know where to set the adjusters without an alignment rack.

F150 alignment

WOW! Thanks.....I Think.
Thanks for the reply, guess I'm not as out of touch as I thought.
Done a little of everything but this is a new one for me. Sure thought there was a magic bullet, but guess I'll change my weekend plans.
BTW, I do have a laser alignment machine, just didn’t know how to move the front end parts without getting the sleeves lose first .

Thanks again.... AL

I Watched The Alignment Man Adjust The Sleeve And It Took Him 20 Min. He Took Off The Top Nut And Rotated It Around To The Position He Needed. I Didn't See What He Used To Rotate It With, But It Was Done Quickly.

My experience is with a '95 truck with ball joints and those camber sleeves. They insall around the upper ball joint's stud and can be removed without tearing the front end apart.

Basic steps.
-Apply lots of rust penetrant on the upper and lower ball joint threaded fasteners and on the camber sleeves and wait overnight. Do this again.
Remove wheels. Remove upper ball joint cotter pin and nut.
Loosen lower ball joint nut but do not remove it.
Loosen the spindle assembly from the ball joint studs by carefully beating on the spindle.
Remove the camber sleeve by prying it out. It comes out the top of the spindle. It usually does not want to move easily.
Install the replacement camber sleeve and perform any adjustments.
Tighten the lower ball joint moderately.
Install the nut on the upper ball joint and tighten it to spec.
Tighten the lower ball joint to spec.

This is really a job for someone who has done it many times before. Knowing how, when and where to hammer on the front end to get everything loose is an art form. If you do it yourself, take your time and restrain your temper when *nothing* comes loose even though you just beat the tar out of it.
