Lightbulb "Stake Bed Panels" for 2000 Ranger

I hope I can explain this correctly. I need to expand the bed of my truck for hauling cargo (tractor parts). A shell is not always tall enough, so my idea was to used the holes in the bed rail and insert "fence like panels" on both sides and then make removeable "end panels" for the front and rear. I call this a stake bed look.

Has anyone done this, seen it, or have any ideas?

Welcome to FTE!!

A lot of the farmers around here do that but their sides only go up to the top of the cab.

RE:Stake Bed Panel

Exactly what I want to do. Do you have any idea how they do it, or where they get the panels?

Most of the ones that I used when I was a kid were 2x2 stakes with 1x4 boards bolted to them with braces that went from side to side as well as a front and rear panel.

Thumbs up RE:Stake Bed Panel

Sounds good but I need the rear panel removal for loading and unloading. How did you configure yours?

The front panel was solid like the sides. There was a 2x2 brace that went across the middle. Most of the ones that I remember had a removeable center piece in the rear. You could use another brace at the top that would allow the rear panel to be bolted in with wing bolts for easy removal.
