I hope someone can help me out. I'm looking to purchase a 2000 HD F150 from out of state. The vehicle has less than 7500 miles, therefore stupid california considers it a "new" car. The only way I can register a "new" car from out of state is if its "California Certified."
I can't imagine ford making separate HD editions for CA, but the emissions label on this 2000 does not say California anywhere on it.

Help please. (especially if you own a 2000 in CA)
Windsor Engine Plant (Annex) is the first plant which makes & still makes the Lighting & Harley engines (Modular Engines). Ford makes a limited amount of both (est: 10,000 ea for this & last year) which stops around December.
Lighting or Harley Davidson engines are not isolated for CA. Both engines are the same Triton 5.4L based Supercharged engines (the Harley's were not SC until 2002). Unless the ECM is programed different for CA, the only difference between the motors are the L & HD have their own different pistons, rings & fuel systems, plus the supercharger. The point is all 5.4L are built the same & the 2000 HD your looking at has a basic 5.4L LEV (low emissions vehicle) engine with the first factory tune Ford/Harley/Exhaust. How they "CA Certify" the same engines that are shipped all over North America regardless of state or province is confusing? In Ontario Canada, you have to have an emissions test on everything 3yrs/older every 2yrs My 5.4 scored the best EMT the mechanic told me, he has ever seen. The Triton 5.4 is a clean & truly "Built Tough!" powerplant!
